Physiotherapy Tariff Change as of July 1, 2025: Everything You Need to Know

all the changes in physiotherapy billing 2025

Starting July 1, 2025, a significant change will come into effect regarding the billing of physiotherapy services. The tariff partners have agreed on a new fee structure applicable to the accident insurance (UV), military insurance (MV), and disability insurance (IV). This development represents a major step forward for the physiotherapy sector.

What’s changing with the new tariff?

Introduction of a time-based billing system

The new tariff agreement replaces the previous flat-rate model with a time-based fee structure. Going forward, most services will be billed in 5-minute time units, although some services will continue to be billed at a fixed rate. The tariff point value is standardized nationwide and is set at 1.00 CHF, both in outpatient clinics and hospital outpatient settings.

New reimbursable services and surcharges

For the first time, the new structure also includes reimbursement for non-direct treatment services, such as:

  • Home and workplace evaluations
  • Sessions conducted via video consultation
  • Therapies in specialized infrastructures (e.g., walking pools, hippotherapy)
  • Medical therapeutic training (MTT)

New surcharge positions have also been introduced—for instance, for treatments requiring two physiotherapists working simultaneously.
