Its objective is clear: to facilitate coordination between healthcare professionals and improve patient follow-up through centralized and secure access to medical information. But one question often arises: <strong>who is legally required to provide the EPR in Switzerland?<\/strong> [\/vc_column_text]<header class=\"kd-section-title col-lg-12 text-left  subtitle-below-title  btf-q \" ><h2 class=\"separator_off\" >Who is required to provide the EPR?<\/h2><\/header>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221; el_class=&#8221;btf-a&#8221;]Under the electronic patient record framework, the law distinguishes several categories of healthcare professionals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Doctors working in <a href=\"https:\/\/info.onedoc.ch\/en\/specialty\/hospital\/\">hospitals<\/a> and clinics<\/strong>: they are required to participate in the EPR and allow their patients to access it.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/info.onedoc.ch\/en\/specialty\/pharmacy\/\"><strong>Pharmacists<\/strong><\/a>: since 2022, the obligation also applies to recognized pharmacies, which must be able to supply and consult the EPR.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Birthing centers and nursing homes<\/strong>: also subject to the obligation, to ensure continuity of care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the other hand, <strong>for <a href=\"https:\/\/info.onedoc.ch\/en\/specialty\/general-practitioner\/\">doctors<\/a> in private practice, <a href=\"https:\/\/info.onedoc.ch\/en\/specialty\/specialist\/\">specialists<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/info.onedoc.ch\/en\/specialty\/physiotherapist\/\">physiotherapists<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/info.onedoc.ch\/en\/specialty\/medical-laboratory\/\">laboratories<\/a>, participation is not (yet) mandatory<\/strong>.
