No one wants to see their AHV number, test results or any other data that could be used for medical purposes, stolen or leaked online. Ensuring data protection is therefore especially important in the medical field. But what does&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onedoc.ch\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OneDoc<\/a>&nbsp;do to secure this data?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Data security at OneDoc is managed by a team of ten people and can be summarized in 6 main pillars, as explained by Alexandre Curreli, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and co-founder of OneDoc:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"heading-1\">End-to-end encrypted data in Switzerland<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>All medical data at OneDoc is stored exclusively in Switzerland, and all data transfers are encrypted<\/em>\u201c, explains Alexandre Curreli. End-to-end encryption ensures that data can only be read by those who need to have access to it. Storing data in Switzerland provides an additional security check thanks to the \u201cSwiss made software, hosted in Switzerland\u201d label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"heading-2\">Regular updates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Updates are carried out on a regular basis at OneDoc to avoid any potential security loopholes: \u201c<em>We have updates every week, and some weeks it\u2019s even every day<\/em>\u201c, explains Florian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"heading-3\">ISO 27001 and DPCO certified<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to complying with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmu.admin.ch\/kmu\/en\/home\/facts-and-trends\/digitization\/data-protection\/new-federal-act-on-data-protection-nfadp.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nFADP<\/a>&nbsp;(New Federal Act on Data Protection), we also comply with ISO 27001 and DPCO certification. Behind these seemingly barbaric terms lie two data protection certifications.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sqs.ch\/en\/certified-organisations?title=OneDoc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ISO 27001<\/a>&nbsp;contains a set of control points to be respected to ensure data protection. If the requirements are met, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) awards certification. For its part, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sqs.ch\/en\/certified-organisations?title=OneDoc#1471390\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DCPO<\/a>&nbsp;certifies that OneDoc complies with the Swiss Data Protection Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"heading-4\">Employee training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Good data protection also means good employee training. \u201c<em>Every employee receives training in good security practices<\/em>\u201c. Indeed, while we imagine hackers breaking into a company by cracking its codes, the reality is often less spectacular. Security vulnerabilities are largely caused by employees inside the company unintentionally leaking data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"heading-5\">Regular pen test<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Penetration tests are carried out regularly by security experts to ensure the reliability of data protection. In concrete terms, those \u201cfriendly hackers\u201d will attempt to break into the OneDoc system to extract confidential data. \u201cSo far, no one has succeeded!\u201d proudly states Alexandre Curreli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"heading-6\">Security by design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>Data security is something we always keep in mind,<\/em>\u201d underlines Florian Alonso, \u201c<em>whether in the technical team or in the rest of the company<\/em>.<em>&nbsp;Safety is always part of the development process, and everything is done to guarantee the best possible security<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"heading-7\">Covid, a data security challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When Alexandre and Florian are asked what was the biggest challenge they faced at OneDoc, they don\u2019t hesitate: \u201c<em>Clearly Covid, where we had to develop a vaccination module in just a few weeks to make it available to the cantons.<\/em>\u201d In such cases, one has to wonder how security can be guaranteed when so little time is available.
