Frequently asked questions about Tarif 595

What is Tarif 595 used for?

Tarif 595 is intended for prevention, health promotion, and wellness services. It is aimed at professionals who offer activities focused on maintaining health rather than treating a medical condition. This Tarif will be mandatory from January 1, 2027, and allows you to present services in a standardized way using recognized Tarif items.

When does Tarif 595 become mandatory in Switzerland?

The use of Tarif 595 will become mandatory from January 1, 2027, for the relevant invoices and membership confirmations. Invoices will have to use the uniform invoice form (XML 5.0).

Who is affected by Tarif 595?

Tarif 595 applies in particular to fitness centers, gyms, course providers, physiotherapists, and other specialties offering health promotion or prevention services. However, Tarif 595 is not available for complementary medicine therapists.

Does Tarif 595 guarantee reimbursement by insurance?

No. Tarif 595 defines a billing format, but it does not guarantee reimbursement. Each supplemental insurance provider remains free to define its own coverage conditions.

What is the difference between Tarif 595 and Tarif 590?

Tarif 590 applies to complementary and alternative medicine. Tarif 595 applies to health promotion and prevention. The same professional may be affected by both Tarifs if they offer both types of services. Sometimes, it is the context and objective that determine the applicable Tarif.

Can OneDoc Invoice be used for Tarif 590 and Tarif 595?

Yes. OneDoc Invoice lets you manage several types of billing in one tool. If you have several RCC numbers (for example, complementary and alternative medicine / fitness), you can bill your complementary medicine services using Tarif 590 and your health promotion services using Tarif 595, while keeping the two clearly separate.

However, these two standards follow distinct and complementary logic within the same practice:

    • Tarif 590 (complementary medicine) is used exclusively for individual curative treatments (e.g., naturopathy session, therapeutic massage, acupuncture).
  • Tarif 595 (health promotion) is used for prevention and wellness activities, often group-based or coaching-focused (e.g., yoga classes, nutrition workshops, fitness memberships)

How do you bill a membership with Tarif 595?

How it works depends on the type of membership. A 10-session package is billed with the corresponding quantity, a monthly or annual membership with the appropriate period, and a multi-year membership with separate lines for each year.
